It's good to be thinking of solutions, but i recommend brainstorming again. This will unfortunately cause multiple issues despite the low price. From my interpretation: If installed in sewers: - plastic may get snagged, but so will lots of other debris - debis will eventually create a clog which will be very difficult and unsafe to remove (you dont want to get cut on the wire if your hands are in a high spetic environment:: infections) If used in larger water ways (though maybe not what was suggested?) - snagged plastics will rip and become smaller in high flows - wildlife will get ensnared, die and rot causing blackwater events - again difficulties to remove blocks because of saftey hazards. This is what comes to mind immediately. Wire tangled up in water is a very difficult thing to manage. A rigid system that can collect a large amount of waste and be efficiently emptied and reinstalled could be an approach for heavily clogged canals, in combination with ways to reduce pollution inputs. Effective waste management systems (difficult in poorer nations) would have the greatest initial impact

I think you're better off stemming the issue at the source by funding rubbish collection and processing as opposed to trying to catch it when it flows into rivers and streams. There are also multiple levels of plastic waste such as bottles, Boxes, Styrofoam which this system doesn't capture.

I don’t know if I maybe went a little overboard with pressure as I was transferring it once I saw it was ruined. I quickly wash both and after sanding, I can give it another run, but do you have any ideas? Could it be too little fabric glue too much fabric glue type of fabric glue, the vasoline?

Too much work. Use Reynolds freezer paper. Much faster and less work. Someone said to try parchment paper, too.
